Man pleads guilty to murdering woman in Plaistow

Kieran Rifat will be sentenced in January 2021 

A man has pleaded guilty to murdering a woman in Plaistow. 

Kieran Rifat, 22, killed Kelly Stewart in Barking Road on Thursday, 26 March 2020. 

Police found the 41-year-old victim’s body in the grounds of the Memorial Community Church at around 3.10pm. 

A post-mortem examination found she died from impact injuries to her head. 

She did not have a home at the time of her death but was from the Newham area. 

Rifat, of Grange Road, Plaistow, entered his plea at the Old Bailey yesterday.

He will be sentenced on Friday, 29 January 2021.
