A drone was used to help locate the man
People heard the man shouting for help and emergency services were called to the scene in Drake Road at around 11pm last night.
An extensive search was carried out and Essex Police deployed a drone to help find the man. He was eventually spotted at the bottom of the quarry.
“Crews kept the casualty calm while we carried out the rescue,” said Station Manager Dan Wastell.
“Our USAR team worked at the top of the quarry to set up a rope rescue while our water rescue team launched a boat and cut through undergrowth to reach him.
“Crews worked well in very difficult circumstances, assisted by our partners, to reach the casualty on the boat and bring him to safety.”
The man was left in the care of the Ambulance Service at around 1.45am.
