Police were called to a break-in at McColl’s newsagents, High Street, in Ingatestone, at around 2.30am on Saturday, 27 February. Nothing was taken.
In a second incident, a significant amount of e-cigarette cartridges and alcohol were stolen from the Co-Op in Wickford High St at around 3.40am.
During a search of the area, a car was stopped on the A12 around half an hour later.
Three people were arrested.
Nicola Andrews, 54, of Nightingale Crescent, Harold Wood, has been charged with burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.
Danny Brandon, 40, and Paul Robinson, 48, both of no fixed address, have been charged with burglary.
They are due in court today.
