Homagni Sikha Roy, who works as a clinical fellow in renal medicine at Queen’s Hospital, became the 20,000th person to get the jab earlier this morning.
The 35-year-old was given a complimentary box of chocolates as was the staff nurse who gave her the vaccine, Donna Bland.
Homagni said: “It was great to receive the 20,000th jab, the whole process was very smooth, from checking in to receiving the vaccine.
“It felt really safe, the staff asked lots of questions to make sure they didn’t miss anything.”
More than 1,746,338 people in London had received the vaccine up to the week of Sunday, 21 February.
Covid-19 infection rates in Havering, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham have now fallen below the key threshold of 100 per 100,000 people.
Barking and Dagenham remain close to the threshold with a rate of 94.4 while in Havering and Redbridge it is 69.4 and 75.4 respectively.
