A woman, 61, from Chadwell Heath and man, 62, from Great Baddow made the discovery in September last year.
Both the individuals have been summonsed to court on Friday, 30 April to answer a charge against the Treasure Act of 1996.
The charges are of theft and of finding an object believed to be treasure and failing to notify the coroner.
The 62-year-old man will also answer a charge of going equipped for theft.
