No one has offered to buy and run the Coopers Arms, in High Road, for the last two years and it is now set to be torn down.
KTS Group Limited is going to build a new four-storey property on the site which will consist of 20 homes and four commercial units for shops.
Plans show seven of the units will be available for Discounted Market Rented, which is 35 per cent of the total units.
There will be seven one-bedroom units and 13 two-bedroom homes.
The applicant has also agreed to put £100,000 towards improving St Chad’s Park.
It is thought some of the money could be spent on children’s play equipment.
The planning application was approved by Barking and Dagenham Council’s Planning Committee last week.
