Barking supermarket ordered to shut for breaking Covid rules

The store must close for two weeks (Credit: LBBD)

A supermarket in Barking has been ordered to temporarily close after failing to comply with Covid regulations.

Magazin Traditional Romanesc, in East Street, told customers they did not have to wear face coverings and regularly let the shop become overcrowded.

On 15 separate occasions the store were found to have breached Covid-19 regulations and staff also did not wear face masks.

It was given several warnings by enforcement officers from the local council but repeatedly ignored the advice.

The supermarket was ordered to close at 12pm on Wednesday, 31 March and cannot reopen until 12pm on Wednesday, 14 April.

Enforcement officers will revisit the shop in seven days and if significant improvements have been made it may be allowed to reopen sooner.
