The blaze, in the northbound tunnel, happened around 10.08am this morning.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Four fire engines from Poplar, Millwall, East Greenwich and Greenwich fire stations attended the scene.
One vehicle was badly damaged by the fire.

The fire was under control within the hour although the northbound tunnel remains closed.
