The victim in her 50s was found critically injured, inside a property in Princes Road on Friday, 9 April just after 2pm.
She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Nicolae Virtosu, 47, of no fixed address was arrested at the scene.
The suspect appeared in custody at court, on Monday, 12 April charged with attempted murder and making threats to kill.
He was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 10 May.
In a statement, the Met Police said: “At this early stage, it is believed that the incident is primarily domestic in nature. The woman and the man arrested are known to each other. Enquiries continue.”
It’s believed a number of suspects left the address prior to the arrival of police.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage from Princes Road and the surrounding area on Friday afternoon, to call police on 101 quoting reference 3935/09Apr.
