Romford club owner launches street food outlet

The business is located in South Street

The owner of a club in Romford, which launched seven weeks prior to the first lockdown, has opened a new street food outlet.

‘Foodbox Ldn’ opened on Wednesday, 31 March next door to the club, ‘Jukebox Ldn,’ in South Street.

The food hub sells a mix of items including burgers, hot dogs, toasties, pizza and pasta.

Owner, Danny Woodhouse initially opened Jukebox Ldn on Saturday, 1 February last year but due to the pandemic was forced to close.

Both chicken and beef burgers are available

During the past few months, renovations have taken place to transform a room on the side of the building into a working kitchen and hub in order to offer the delivery service.

Danny said: “We were going to do it (renovations) in the first lockdown. We spoke about it alot.

“We kept saying ‘we will be back open soon’ so we just left it and the second lockdown we thought right ‘we’ve got to do it.’

“We’ve spent many, many hours here but it’s finally up and running and to see all the positive reviews is really good.”

Food can be delivered or purchased at the premises.

“People can come up to the window; we’ve got a covid screen on it so people can order their takeaway safely and walk away.”

“They can order takeaway to their office or order on the website for a collection.”

Danny said they cater for meat eaters, vegetarians & vegans and have had a great response since opening.

“Although I’m not vegan myself, I’ve done alot of research about it. I was told the Moving Mountains was one of the better ranges you can get so all our products and premium.”

“We’re getting alot of repeat customers.

“We’ve only been open just over a week now and we’ve had people ordered four times from us already so we’re obviously doing something right to get the repeat business.”

“I just recommend everyone to come and try it. It is something a little bit different in Romford and everything’s premium.”

The menu includes American hot dogs, Plain dog and The works dog

Although Jukebox Ldn were briefly able to open last year alongside other businesses, the club has remained closed in line with government regulations since October.

Long term, it’s hoped the two businesses will be linked and theme nights will be slowly introduced as lockdown restrictions ease.

The full menu can be found here.
