Police responded to reports a man had “taken ill” in Barking Park at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, 16 June.
An air ambulance rushed him to hospital for treatment where he remains.
Officers are investigating what happened to the man, who is believed to be aged in his 30s.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8:38pm yesterday (16 June) to reports of an incident in Barking Park, Barking.
“We sent an ambulance crew, three paramedics in a fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a man and took him to a major trauma centre.”
