Insulate Britain campaigners blocked the motorway at Junction 28 for the A12 and Brentwood shortly before 8.30am today.
“Officers were able to intervene and resolve the situation quickly meaning the road was blocked for only a matter of minutes,” said a spokesperson for Essex Police.
“We then received several calls at around 8.45am of a number of people blocking the on-slip at Junction 8 of the M11 for the A120.
“Again, our officers acted swiftly to resolve the situation safely. There was congestion for roughly 45 minutes, but traffic was able to move freely.”
This is the third time in one week Insulate Britain has blocked parts of the M25.
The group has stated it has two demands on its website: “That the UK government immediately promises to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025.
“That the UK government immediately promises to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and take responsibility for the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit , with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030 as part of a just transition to full decarbonisation of all parts of society and the economy.”
Insulate Britain said it had to take further action after the government ignored its other demonstrations earlier this week.
