Around 15 firefighters attended to the fire
The blaze broke out in a first floor flat in Green Bank, at around 4.30am this morning.
The woman was taken to hospital after firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued her.
Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Shadwell, Whitechapel and Dowgate stations attended to the building.
Part of the five-roomed flat on the first floor was damaged by the blaze which was brought under control within half an hour.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
