Bradley Thomas, 34, would steal between £60 and £100 worth of goods each time he entered the Co-op in Farnham Road and Boots in Petersfield Avenue.
Both shops reported him to the Gooshays Safer Neighbourhood Team who were able to use CCTV footage to identify the suspect.
They discovered he was also a suspect in a burglary case and he was arrested by the Havering joint Task Force team.
Thomas was found to be in possession of items that were stolen during the burglary.
He was charged with burglary and multiple shopliftings and remanded into police custody.
The 34-year-old was given a 94 week sentence at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, 15 November.
He was also issued with a community behaviour order banning him from entering the Co-op and Boots for five years.
