Staff were seen turning people away from Romford station earlier this afternoon
Police were called to Goodmayes station at around 1.50pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Greater Anglia services were suspended between Stratford and Romford earlier this afternoon but were reopened at around 3pm.
The train operator has warned services running through those stations may still be cancelled, delayed or revised though.
