Eight-year-old Olive Low baked and sold 342 cookies with her aunt Laura O’Connor so she could buy presents for kids stuck in hospital during the festive season.
“I thought that children in hospital over Christmas don’t get to play with toys so I came up with the idea of baking cookies,” said Olive.
“I enjoy baking when I visit my auntie Laura’s house as she makes it fun with lots of glitter and sparkles. I really loved getting to choose all the toys to donate and was excited to give them to the hospital.”
Olive started out selling the cookies to her friends and family but after her dad posted about the fundraiser on Instagram they saw the orders start rolling in.
She managed to donate four large sacks full of toys to the hospitals on Tuesday, 30 November.
They were presented to Davina Yeomans, play worker, and Chantel Taylor, play specialist, to hand out to children in hospital this Christmas.
