Around 20 firefighters were called to the blaze inside a property in Myrtle Road at around 1.20am this morning (Tuesday, 11 January).
The woman’s body was found on the ground floor by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
Fire crews from across Harold Hill, Romford and Hornchurch brought the fire under control in forty minutes.
The ground floor of the mid-terraced house was damaged by the fire.
Both the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service are investigating the cause of the fire.
