Around 35 firefighters tackled a fire in a block of flats in Dagenham.

The blaze broke out yesterday (Sunday, 23 January) at around 1.30pm on the sixth floor of a building in Bell Farm Avenue.

Around 100 residents left the property before the brigade arrived, including one woman who was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.

A five-roomed flat was partly damaged by the blaze.

Fire crews from across Dagenham, Hornchurch, Ilford, Romford and Barking brought the fire under control by around 3pm.
