The victim was knifed in Charles Street at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, 23 February.
He was rushed to hospital for treatment and is in a life-threatening condition.
Essex Police have launched an investigation into the attack.
“We need anyone with information on the incident, including dash cam and doorbell footage of the area between 8pm and 8.40pm to submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk/ or use the live chat function which is available between 7am and 11pm,” said a spokesperson for Essex Police.
“You can also call us on 101. Please quote incident 1229 of February 23.”
