A Jaguar and a Mercedes hit each other in Hacton Lane at around 10.30am on Sunday, 13 March.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 73-year-old male driver of the Jaguar was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 32-year-old driver of the Mercedes was taken to hospital as a precaution. He has since been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Detectives from the Road and Transport Policing Command are investigating. They would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it.
Anyone with dashcam footage or any witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting reference CAD 2581/13Mar.
