Hornchurch man, 88, dies after collision on A127

A car was flipped onto its roof after colliding with a lorry on the A127 yesterday morning 

An 88-year-old man from Hornchurch has died following a serious collision on the A127. 

A car and a lorry collided on the road at Childerditch, near Brentwood, at around 10.30am on Monday, 25 April. 

The man sustained serious injuries and despite the best efforts of paramedics he died at the scene.

Essex Police arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He has since been released under investigation.

Officers closed the road until 6.30pm while they dealt with the incident.

They are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dash cam footage of it to contact them as soon as possible. Anyone who does provide information should quote incident 329 of Monday, 25 April.
