New boundaries proposed for council wards in Brentwood

New boundaries are being proposed for council wards in Brentwood.

The Local Government Boundary Commission says it wants to make sure that all councillors represent the same number of electors and that ward arrangements help the council work effectively.

It is planning to place all of Brentwood High Street in a Brentwood South ward. There are also plans for a new pattern of wards in Hutton so that they have three councillors each.

“We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities,” said Professor Colin Mellors, Chair of the Commission.

“We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for local people.

“Residents and local organisations can help us do that. We would like them to let us know whether they agree with our proposals before we take final decisions.”

Local people who want to respond to the online consultation can do so here. It closes on Monday, 12 December.
