Paul Greed proposed to his girlfriend, Emily Harris, live on the theatre’s stage on Sunday, 4 December.
Months in the planning, the cast and theatre staff joined in the subterfuge to help Paul pull off the surprise.
Paul went down on one knee in the traditional fashion.
There reportedly wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Emily said YES!
A shower of confetti, courtesy of the technical manager, rained down upon them.
Paul said: “Emily always say I need to be a bit more romantic, so I racked my brain and in September I emailed Barking Broadway Theatre who was absolutely amazing, and we got the ball rolling.
“It was hard keeping it from Emily and I had to tell a few little white lies.
“The day before I went for a sort of dress rehearsal, I met some of the cast and crew.
“Then on the day off, Emily went with her family and some of mine. I turned up around 10 minutes from the end, and they hid me in the green room with the 7 dwarves.
“I was then called to the stage where I went on and done the magical deed.
“I was really nervous but I’m so glad I did it and will always remember the hospitality and help that was given to me…and we been shown so much love since it happened.”
The Creative Director of the Broadway, Ian Knowles said: “To have been able to help arrange the marriage proposal too has really made my first panto at the Broadway a treat.
“What else do I need for a Happy Christmas?”
Snow White is on at the theatre until Sunday, 1 January 2023.
