An Irish man is due in court after being charged in connection with the theft of a breakdown recovery van in Aveley.
The vehicle was taken while its driver was attending a call out in Sandy Lane at around 9.30pm on Saturday.
Kieran Magure, 44, from County Amargh, was later arrested in Aveley Road, Upminster.
He has been charged with taking a vehicle without consent, three counts of assaulting a police officer with intent to resist arrest and drink-driving.
He will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court today.
