Nathan Faulkner is hoping to walk 6,672,000 steps with his family and friends
Nathan Faulkner has set himself a challenge to walk nearly 7 million steps, after his mum was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in November last year.
He said, “I always like to make a positive side to negative things.
“It was shocking news, the worst news I’ve heard in my lifetime.
“Early on, I believed that my mum could fight this and I thought I would start raising money.”
Nathan decided to walk 6,672,000 steps, the distance to Niagara Falls, because his family dream of going there one day.
He has recruited a team of family and friends to help him complete the challenge.
He said, “I have 8 household teams and in total that’s 26 people helping.
“We figured it would take between 1-2 months to complete.”
Nathan’s mum, Charlie Faulkner, said Nathan had found it difficult to come to terms with her diagnosis.
She said, “His little mind would often keep him up at night worrying about me and what is in store for our family.
“So we came up with the idea to channel his anxiety into something positive.
“We think this is a wonderful achievement for our kind and inspirational young man, who has organised this all himself.”
Nathan has already raised over £2,500, beating his initial target of £1,500.
He has has now increased his target to £100,000 and setup a fundraising page for donations.
