Arrests made after heavy seat thrown from height at Westfield Stratford

Two teenagers have been arrested after a heavy seat was thrown from the third floor of Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.

A viral clip of the incident on social media shows the seat landing on the ground floor below – narrowly missing shoppers passing by.

A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have now been arrested following the incident on Saturday, 1 March.

The pair have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remain in custody.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Inspector Dan Window, from Stratford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“We have arrested two people following Saturday’s incident and they remain in custody.

“This was a serious incident and I would encourage anyone who may have information to contact the police ref: CAD 5623/04Mar
