The Barking and Dagenham Business Awards launched last night.

They are sponsoring the Business and Social Responsibility Award.

Speaking to Time 107.5 he said: “We like to sponsor these awards because we’ve worked in Barking and Dagenham for a number of years now, we know all the local SMEs and we want to encourage all the local talent pool to showcase themselves and put themselves forward in this forum.

“I would suggest anyone who is entering to really think about the categories they are going into, the type of audience they are looking at and to really spend time filling their applications in.

“The key to business success is customer service, knowing your audience and getting your sums right.”

CU London, based in Barking and Dagenham, are part of the Coventry University Group.

This will be the first time they are involved in the Awards since they opened in the area.

Shaun Brown is their outreach officer, he said: “I think it’s very important to be involved with local businesses and the local community. I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for the local area and ourselves to be within this vicinity to we are very excited to get involved with positive aspects of Barking and Dagenham.”

The Business Awards take place at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club.

Their Managing Director Steve Thompson said: “I think it’s great that the business community can show how much they are doing in the borough – it gives everyone the opportunity to come together and to interact.

“I have always believed local companies should work with local companies and this is a great way to come together.

“We are very involved with community involvement so our community trust management will be looking at that award. This is a great way to show off the football club, there will be 220 people sitting here for a black tie dinner, it’s a fantastic evening.”
