Parents of children who go to school in Barking are being urged to walk to collect their children today, after a collision and a fire left people stuck in their cars across the town.
Traffic is queuing on the A13 after an accident this morning, which has since been cleared.
But the fire at a recycling plant in River Road is making access to Thamesview and Barking Riverside very difficult.
Some bus services aren’t running because of the chaos.
Awful traffic all over Thames Ward today due to an industrial fire. Parents calling police that they can't get to school to collect their children. The weather is good so please parents walk to collect your kids today otherwise you'll be stuck for hours.

There are several schools in the affected area and police are advising parents not to drive as it will add to the traffic and take hours for kids to be picked up.
