Residents previously reported incidents of violence, drug taking and public urination taking place at a property in Alfred’s Gardens.
Barking and Dagenham Council secured a Closure Order for the address but have been unable to evict the tenant during the coronavirus outbreak.
Instead, their legal team attended a court hearing last week where a judge ruled the Closure Order should be extended for an extra three months.
“We’re determined to give the residents of Alfred Gardens a peaceful life and the last thing they would have wanted, in the current time, would have been the tenant returning,” said Councillor Margaret Mullane.
“Hopefully the extension gives us time to take property and evict the tenant for good.”
Neighbours and other residents in the area have reported their lives and the environment has improved dramatically since the closure.Tags: Barking
