Four convicted of “sickening” ammonia attack in Ilford

William Deo and Adam Bedejo were sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court

Four people have been found guilty of a vicious ammonia attack in Ilford, in which a man has the noxious liquid forced down his throat.

The 21-year-old has serious internal injuries and was put into an induced coma. He has since made a full recovery.

The victim and another man were lured by Makayla Hajaig to a property in Argyle Road on Wednesday, 13 June.

But the 19-year-old, of Barley Lane, Goodmayes, was working with Adam Badejo of Keppel Road, Dagenham, and 20-year-old William Deo.

All three, and a 30-year-old man who can’t be named for legal reasons, stood trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

They have been found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent and actual bodily harm.

Makayla Hajaig has also been found guilty of GBH with intent and ABH

Sergeant Matt Taylor, from the Met’s East Area Command Unit, said: “This was a sickening attack which left both young victims with serious injuries and is something that will stay with them for a long time.

“I would like to commend the bravery of both men who had to relive their experience when giving evidence in court, as well as the investigating officers who worked tirelessly to bring these offenders to justice.”

They have been remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month.
