Melvin Wallace, who represents Squirrels Heath ward and is a former Mayor of Havering, was suspended on 9 May according to an email seen by Time 107.5.
He was re-elected less than a week earlier and it’s understood the local party was aware of allegations and an investigation against him.
The investigation was completed in late March and the Conservative Party chairman has referred the matter to the Disciplinary Sub-Committee Board and Cllr Wallace’s membership of the party has been suspended pending their decision.
Last week he was made chairman of the Havering Council’s strategic planning committee – a position which gives him an allowance of £14,418 on top of the standard £10,208 given to all councillors.
Cllr Wallace told Time 107.5 he had not received an official letter confirming his suspension and added “We’ll see what happens.”
