Man in critical condition following fall from height in New Wanstead

Officers found the man in his 60s with a head injury (Pic-Google Maps)

A man is in a critical condition after falling from a height in New Wanstead.

Police were called just after 18:00 on Friday, 21 January to a residential block in The Herons, New Wanstead following reports of a man falling from a height.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 60s, suffering from a head injury.

He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

An investigation has so far found that two men forced their way into the property and threatened the man with a machete before he fell.

Another person, a woman in their 20s and who was known to the man, was found at the scene with a back injury.

It is believed that she sustained those injuries when she climbed from one balcony to the safety of a neighbouring property.

No arrests have been made as enquires continue.

If anyone has any information which could help the police they’re being asked to reach out and reference CAD 5524/21 Jan.
