Man “stabbed in the hand” in Forest Gate causing train chaos

A 25-year-old man has been stabbed in Forest Gate before trespassing on the train line and causing long delays for passengers heading out of London.

The victim was injured during a fight in Forest Lane at around 10.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, 28 November).

Police say his wound was “minor” and the are no reports of any other injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his hand and also to injuries he suffered jumping onto the train tracks.

No arrests have been made.

The incident caused significant delays on trains heading out of Liverpool Street, with TfL and Greater Anglia services being affected.

Many passengers tweeted about being stuck on trains which were not moving.

Some services were diverted to Fenchurch Street as a result.

It is understood a separate incident on a Greater Anglia train led to an emergency stop lever being pulled near Romford station which added to the delays.
