Nominations for the Women’s Empowerment Month Awards 2022 close soon

Nominations are closing soon for Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Empowerment Month Awards 2022.

The award ceremony, which is in its seventh year, pays homage to the achievements of women who live or work within the borough. 

It consists of eight awards, six of which are open to members of public. 

These are businesswoman of the year, female parent or carer of the year, female volunteer of the year, leadership award, women’s community group of the year, young woman of the year, outstanding woman of the year, and the lifetime achievement award.

It comes as part of a month-long celebration of women within in the borough.

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills & Aspirations and Member Development, said: “Our borough is full of inspirational women who have, and continue, to help build pride, respect and cohesion in Barking and Dagenham.

“The Women Empowerment Awards is about celebrating their achievements and shining a light on the contribution of the amazing women we are fortunate to have in our borough.

“We want all residents to take a moment to nominate deserving women to help celebrate the role they play in our borough.

Nominations for candidates close on Monday 31 January and can me done through the council’s website.
