Raffle prizes to raise money for boy with rare cancer stolen in Dagenham

Raffle prize donations to raise money for a boy with a rare form of cancer have been stolen during a burglary at a shop in Dagenhem.

A Star Vapes in Reede Road was collecting vape kits and other related vape items to help with therapy costs for 11-year-old Mickey Bennett who is currently receiving chemotherapy at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital for T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

The money raised was going to be used for Mickey to have T-Car treatment abroad if he needed it.

Matthew Marsh who runs A Star Vapes explained told Time 107.5 it was upsetting.

“The vape community had all come together and donated loads of stuff for him and we found they’d taken that as well which is just disgusting, it’s just hit us all really hard.”

“It’s all just to help Mickey, it’s just devastating, people have donated so much and been so kind, and for this to have happened it’s maybe taken away cash to help him through treatment and get better.”

Matt hopes to raise awareness of the stolen goods and make them ‘too hot to handle’ by using social media.

In a message to the culprits, he told Time 107.5: “If you’re out there and you know someone who’s got it or it was you just bring it back. It’s not so much for us, it’s just for the lad, it’s wrong on so many levels.”
