The video, which is believed to have been filmed by his brother and current Dagenham and Redbridge player Yoan Zouma, also shows him throwing shoes at the cat before slapping it.
One part of the video shows Zouma chasing after the cat as a child watches on.
It was posted to social media site Snapchat on Sunday, a day after he played in West Ham’s fourth round FA Cup tie away to Kidderminster.
Animal charity, RSPCA, have also confirmed that they are looking in to the matter.
We've had lots of messages regarding an upsetting video of a cat and would like to reassure people we're aware of it. We will always look into any complaints made about animal welfare but we can't comment on individual matters for legal reasons.

He insists that it was an isolated incident as he issued the following apology, “I also want to say how deeply sorry I am to anyone who was upset by the video.
“I would like to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy.
“They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behaviour will not happen again.”
West Ham released their own statement in which they criticized the French international, “West Ham United unreservedly condemns the actions of our player, Kurt Zouma, in the video that has circulated.
“We have spoken to Kurt and will be dealing with the matter internally, but we would like to make it clear that we in no way condone cruelty towards animals.”
