A team of ‘memory joggers’ have taken to the streets in Romford to help find the owner of a winning EuroMillions ticket who has not come forward.
The mystery person bought the ticket in Havering for the draw on Friday, 23 February and matched one of the two Millionaire Maker codes.
The code for the unclaimed ticket is JLVW-63060.
Ten runners from Havering 90 Joggers, each with one letter or number of the winning code on their back, ran through Romford town on Monday urging people to check and then re-check their tickets to see if they are the lucky person.
Lead runner, Mark Dalby said: “We’re quite familiar with donning fancy dress to raise money for local charities but this is the first time we’ve run with a giant £1million cheque!
”Here’s hoping our efforts will help find that lucky winner. Who knows maybe they will decide to join us in celebration.
“All our runners, beginner or elite, get an amazing buzz from reaching their goals; I bet discovering you’ve become a National Lottery millionaire is almost as good.”
There are only days left before the deadline finishes for claiming the winnings if the ticket has been lost, after which the claimant must present a valid ticket.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ advisor at the National Lottery said: “The first 30 days deadline is really important in the life of this unclaimed prize because someone who really thinks they are a winner, but doesn’t have the ticket for whatever reason, can potentially make a claim.
“After 25 March, we can only pay out if the winner presents their EuroMillions ticket.”
If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the final claim deadline, 22 August 2018, then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
