Second man arrested in connection with fatal Walthamstow shooting

A second man has been arrested by police investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager in Walthamstow.

16-year-old Amaan Shakoor was shot in Markhouse Road earlier this month and died in hospital the next day.

Another teenager, 15, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old man was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and currently remains in custody.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, said: “While it is positive that we have a second arrest enquiry, I must emphasise that this remains an ongoing investigation and I would urge anyone out there with information to please contact us or Crimestoppers anonymously.

“This murder has left Amaan’s family completely bereft, and needing answers – and someone out there knows who committed this terrible crime.

“If that is you, or you even suspect who might have carried out this awful murder, then please help us to bring them to account for the sake of Amaan’s family and make the streets safer for other young people like him.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8345 1570 or via 101 quoting reference 6727/02 April. You can also tweet information to @MetCC.

To give information anonymously contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org

An 18-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder previously was released under investigation.
