An 18-year-old man from South Ockendon has been released under investigation following the stabbing of a man in Purfleet.

He was previously arrested in connection to the stabbing of a 20-year-old man in Oakhill Road on Saturday, 5 January this year.

It’s reported five men got out of a silver Volkswagen Polo, ran towards the victim, stabbed him four times and stole his mobile phone at around 8pm.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for serious but non-life-changing injuries.

Officers believe the attack was targeted but do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.

One of the male suspects is described by the victim as being in his late teens, around 5ft 10ins tall with tanned skin. He has a skinny build, with light brown hair and what is described as a squeaky voice.

The victim described the second man as being black and in his early 20s.  He has a skinny build and is around 5ft 10ins tall. He was clean shaven, had short black hair in an afro style and was wearing a grey hooded top with black tracksuit bottoms.

The third man is described as black, around 21-years-old and has a skinny build with black hair in an afro style and light patchy stubble. He was wearing a black tracksuit.

The fourth man is described as being black and of a similar height and build to the other men, while the fifth man is described by the victim as being black.
