The 19 year-old was taken to Hospital with a gunshot wound shortly after 7pm yesterday.
The victim remains in a serious and stable condition.
A 36 year-old man from Tilbury and a 40 year-old man in Stanford-le-Hope were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the early hours of this morning.
They are both in custody.
