Three arrests have been made
The pedestrian was hit by a grey Jaguar XJ which failed to stop at the scene on Palmerston Road at around 7.30am on Tuesday, 24 December.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the woman in her 60s died at the scene.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene.
On Monday, 30 December, officers arrested a 20 year-old man from Loughton, a 17 year-old boy from Dagenham, and a 16 year-old boy from Chingford.
They have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
The 20 year-old has been released on bail until 13 March while the 16 and 17 year-olds have been bailed until 14 March.
Detective Sergeant Sam Nason said: “My thoughts continue to be with the family of the woman who died in this incident and they are being supported by specialist officers.
“We are continuing to appeal for information about the collision and what led up to it.
“In particular, I need anyone who saw or has footage of a grey Jaguar XJ around the time of the collision in Buckhurst Hill and Chingford.”
