Three people arrested in Tilbury following shop break-in

Three people have been arrested after police were called to a shop in Tilbury being broken into in the early hours of the morning.

A witness reported seeing three men wearing balaclavas trying to break into the Co-op on Princess Margaret Road at 1.30am on the morning of Friday, 9 April.

Officers arrived at the scene ten minutes later and arrested two people. A third person was found hiding behind the till in the shop.

Two men, both aged 36 and from Tilbury, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A 22 year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of drugs.

All three men remain in custody for questioning.

Essex Police are calling on anyone who saw what happened but has yet to speak to officers, or has any information on the burglary, to contact Grays CID.
