Charlie Richardson has helped out with the trust that runs the hospitals after it helped treat his wife when she had cancer.
The skydive is set to take place on Friday, 19 October.
The 70-year-old tells Time 107.5 it’s something he has considered doing before.
He said: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but I’ve never mentioned it because I thought people would just laugh.
“When the occasion came up that they were looking for things to do to fundraise, I thought I will do something different – I’ll jump out of an aeroplane!”
Charlie is hoping to raise £2000 for the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust’s volunteer centre.
He says they helped his family a lot when his wife was ill.
“Although she has never been treated at Queens she was treated at Harold Wood.
“It’s just something that has been on my mind for years to do something and this is my opportunity to give back something and it’s to the trust which helped her in the first place.
“There’s always charities which have stalls and you can’t give them all.
“I always think if you give to something local that you might need or your family might have needed in the past it’s a great thing.”
Charlie has a JustGiving page which you can donate to HERE.
