Mohammed Keerpah has been sentenced to 27-months’ imprisonment at a youth offenders’ institute but he will be deported halfway through the sentence.
The teenager contacted two 12-year-old girls on Instagram on Saturday, 2 March.
He sent the first girl inappropriate comments and photos.
The second victim was sent a picture of him performing a sexual act on himself. He then tried to coerce her into sending intimate photos of herself.
When she refused, Keerpah video-called her and continued performing the sex act.
He was arrested at a park in Grays on Sunday, 3 March, after arranging to meet one of the girls.
Following a search, police discovered that he had condoms in his wallet.
Appearing at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, 2 May, Keerpah pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child, three counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act and one of meeting a child following sexual grooming.
He was sentenced on Monday, 10 June.
Investigating officer, PC Charlotte Taylor-Stevens said: “Keerpah selected these girls carefully on Instagram and, despite their repeated protests, continued to bombard them with inappropriate comments, videos and photos.
“I hope that this sentence will give the girls some peace, and means that they can start moving on with their lives.”Tags: Grays, Thurrock
