Police officer hospitalised after being hit by stolen car in Rush Green

A police officer has been taken to hospital after a collision in Rush Green.

The officer was injured following the pursuit of a stolen vehicle, which began at around 5.30pm today.

The vehicle was chased to the junction of Rush Green Road and Dagenham Road, where the officer got out of a pursuing police car in an attempt to detain the driver.

But the stolen vehicle drove at him, leaving the officer with injuries which have been assessed as non-life-threatening.

A Met Police spokesperson said that enquiries were ongoing to trace the occupants of the car.
