Picture released of Gallions Reach murder victim

Shanur Ahmed was found dead on Tuesday morning

The first image has been released of a 16-year-old boy who was found dead in Gallions Reach.

Shanur Ahmed was found in an area of scrubland, at the rear of Gallions Reach DLR Station, Atlantis Avenue, at around 8.40am on Tuesday, 3 March.

Paramedics discovered he had suffered head injuries and sadly pronounced him dead at the scene.

The 16-year-old’s family reported him missing in the early hours of Tuesday after he did not return to their home in Manor Park. They are now being supported by specialist officers.

Members of the public also reported seeing a group of roughly 30 males carrying baseball bats near Gallions Reach DLR station at around 7.50pm on Monday, 2 March.

Officers searched the area at the time but could find no trace of the suspects.

Detectives are working to see if the murder is linked to this group of youths.
