Dozens of messages have been sent to us since the news of his death was announced yesterday
The former football and showbusiness agent passed away in hospital yesterday morning, with his nephew Michael by his side.
Speaking to Mark Dover on Time 107.5FM today, Michael described him as “an egomaniac in the most sincere way” whose “favourite topics of conversation was music and himself.”
Eric had hosted Making Memories on Sundays on Time 107.5FM since the summer of 2013.
“He absolutely adored that show and adored his listeners,” Michael said. “[To] every single person who ever listened to his show or phoned up his show, I say thank you because he loved it.”
Michael said he will miss “the little things” about Eric.
“Him phoning up 10 times a day to ask how we are, the little conversations, and how loving he was with my kids and his whole family,” he said. “I’ll remember those little things and his quirky, old East End sayings. They were special.”
Michael also shared one of his favourite anecdotes from Eric’s career as a football agent, saying he took his showbiz background into football and revolutionised footballers’ contracts.
Eric was helping negotiate a new deal for Dennis Wise at Chelsea and was speaking with the club’s chairman Ken Bates in a portacabin while the training ground was being renovated.
The talks were not going well and Eric made a big, theatrical exit but, instead of leaving the cabin, accidentally walked into a broom cupboard.
“In the way only Eric could, because he was very witty, picked up a broom and said ‘Here Ken, I’ve found that sweeper you were after.’
“That’s what he was like. And it was real, there was no persona with him; everything you saw with Eric was the way he was.”
A small funeral will be held later this week and Michael said that he hoped that it would be possible to hold a memorial service next Spring to allow people to pay their respects to him.
Celebrities who knew Eric paid tribute to him on social media. Former heavyweight world champion boxer Frank Bruno called him “a real character.”

Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel said Eric “changed my life.”
1/2] Stunned to learn of the passing of my dear mate Eric Hall. Forty seven years ago, Eric was the Promotion man at EMI who worked on my records. He changed my life by getting them into the charts. The world has lost a rare character. A man of brilliance and charisma.

Former footballer Stan Collymore referenced the cigars that Eric was often pictured with.
Larger than life, great great fun, sad to think Eric Hall has passed.
Rest in peace, Eric, hope there’s a big Churchill waiting for you on the other side.

Very sad to hear the passing of Eric Hall. I used to regularly share a corner with him at Pellicci’s – always entertaining with tales of Bolan, Elton, Freddie & the Pistols. He once (rightly) called me a schmo after I’d had some calling cards made – without a phone number pic.twitter.com/xThiXGtcjG

Bond girl Britt Ekland also paid a tribute.
Rip Eric Hall, we had a lot of super fun monster monster times in the 90’s!

It should never be forgotten that Eric Hall who died today was the PR at EMI who got the Pistols on Grundy. A moment in popular culture that was seismic for so many of us. I met him a couple of times at LBC. He was a gloriously mouthy git in all the best of ways. #EricHall pic.twitter.com/UuHU6Cbc3B
