Emergency services were called at around 9am this morning to a collision between a car and pedestrian in Loxford Lane, near Clark Grove.
The victim was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre.
The car involved in the collision did not stop at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Following a search by officers, a vehicle believed to be connected with the incident was located. The driver had decamped.
“A police dog unit and National Police Air Service are assisting officers with their enquiries.”
No arrests have been made, the spokesperson added.
Loxford Lane remains closed from Loxford Leisure Centre to South Park Drive.
