Romford MP says he won’t submit no-confidence letter in Theresa May

Andrew Rosindell has said he will not ask the Prime Minister to stand down over her handling of the Brexit negotiations but urged her to amend the deal she’s reached with the EU.

The MP for Romford asked a question at Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons yesterday.

Rosindell said he was driven by “a love of the country and a passionate belief in our United Kingdom.”

He added that he “agreed with the people of Romford” who he claims are deeply unhappy with the proposed deal.

More than 69% of people in Havering voted to leave the EU when the referendum was held in June 2016.

“The problem we’ve got is we’re running out of time,” Rosindell told Time 107.5. “We are leaving the EU in a few months and we don’t want to leave without any arrangement because there will be some issues if we leave without an agreement.”

“They’ve outwitted us, we should have been a lot stronger from day one, we should not have allowed them to force us into this corner and I think Theresa May, even at this late stage, needs to stand up and say this is not acceptable.”

Going forward Rosindell adds, “I want the policy to change, I want to see Theresa May understand the deal she’s putting forward is not one the British people voted for.”
