Two charged and summonsed to court 18 months on from South Ockendon robbery

Two men have been summonsed to appear in court to faces charges in connection with a knifepoint robbery in South Ockendon.

The incident took place in Rosemary Road 18 months ago.

A 17-year-old boy had his mobile phone and a small amount of cash taken from him on Sunday, 20 January 2019.

Four people were arrested at the time, although two of those were later told by Essex Police that they would face no further action.

Melvin Bautista, 20, of Tunmarsh Lane, Plaistow, and Abid Ahmed, 19, of Wells Park Road, Sydenham, have now been summonsed to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 8 October.

Bautista is due to face charges of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon, while Ahmed is due to face charges of robbery and possession of a knife, blade or pointed article in a public place.
